Tyler Fischer Be Less White

EPISODE 112 · TYLER FISCHER
Be Less White

Tyler Fischer grew up rewarding chaos with laughter — flooding school bathrooms, falling on his face for attention, doing impressions of his teachers while wearing their clothes. His parents told their friends with pride. So he kept going until an acting teacher said, 'You should do this for a living.' Fifteen years later, his career was ramping — top talent agencies, high demand — until the auditions stopped. Agents said it out loud: 'We're not taking white people anymore.' Comedy clubs followed. Friends uninvited him from podcasts. So Tyler did what any artist with nothing left to lose does: said everything.

This conversation moves through the pre-canceled years, the lawsuit against the manager who told him on tape that hiring white men was against company policy, the Comedy Cellar walk-in where someone asks him every night to drop it, and the moment his childhood hero Jamie Foxx slid into his DMs to support him — then turned on him when Tyler posted about getting fired for being white. What's at stake is whether you're willing to stand for yourself when the consensus says you shouldn't exist.

  • Rewarded for chaos Tyler started flooding school bathrooms at seven, stuffing paper towels in the drains and watching people fall on their face. His parents told their friends with pride. The only thing that got him attention was being a piece of shit — so he kept doing it until an acting teacher said, 'You're really funny. You should do this for a living.'
  • The auditions stopped Tyler's career was ramping — top talent agencies, high demand. Then the auditions slowed, then stopped. Agents sugarcoated it at first: 'It's slow this time of year.' Then they said it out loud: 'We're not taking white people anymore.' Comedy clubs followed. Friends uninvited him from podcasts because they 'couldn't allow a white man on the show.'
  • Pre-canceled Tyler calls it being pre-canceled — career not quite at the level where you can survive the mob, but far enough in that you've committed everything to it. COVID lockdowns plus vaccine mandates plus woke casting = back in the corner with nothing to lose. So he said everything.
  • The lawsuit An acting manager scouted Tyler, pitched the 'you're going to be a star' line, then told him on tape: 'We got word from higher up that we can't take white men anymore. It's company policy.' Tyler is taking them to court. When he announced it on Twitter, he was brutalized — called racist for standing up for himself. Three comedians publicly supported him. Every night at the Comedy Cellar, someone asks, 'Why are you doing this? Just drop it.'
  • Jamie Foxx in the DMs Tyler's childhood hero. Jamie sent a voicemail: 'I think you're so funny. Keep it up.' Started commenting 50 laughy-face emojis on Tyler's videos. Then Tyler posted about getting fired for being white. Jamie commented: 'Oh yeah, I'm sure it's really hard for white dudes.' Tyler blocked him.
  • Comedy isn't a community Tyler won't use the word 'community' for the comedy scene. It's thousands of people who would 'literally put a bullet in someone's head to avoid scrutiny or get ahead.' There's no unity. You can say there's a black community or a Latin community, but you're not allowed to say there's a white community — which is hilarious, given that white people are accused of having a tight-knit superiority-based one.
  • The dead zone When was the last great comedy film? Tyler wants to write and direct feature films because that market is wide open. If Daily Wire won't fund it, he'll crowdfund and release it for free on YouTube. *My Cousin Vinny*, *Dumb and Dumber*, Woody Allen's output — that standard of work doesn't exist anymore.
  • Dr. Phil cuts the episode Tyler flew to L.A. to debate critical race theory professors on Dr. Phil alongside Candace Owens. They played the tape of the manager telling Tyler, 'We don't take white men anymore.' Tyler sobbed on air. It was an incredible hour of TV about white people who got fired for being white and have proof. Dr. Phil cut the entire episode.

Quotes

"I was raised very liberal. CNN was on TV almost like it replaced religion. That was the gospel I heard every day."
Tyler Fischer
"My career was really taking off. And then suddenly, the auditions slowed down, then they stopped. Some of them were just sugarcoating it. Then it got so out of control that these agents and managers started saying it out loud: 'Yeah, we're not taking white people anymore.'"
Tyler Fischer
"I have to now uninvite you from my podcast because we just can't allow a white man to be on our show. That happened many, many times."
Tyler Fischer
"I wasn't allowed to perform. I wasn't allowed to audition. I wasn't allowed on podcasts because of my skin color. It wasn't a decision. I was backed in the corner. I've already committed my life to this. So let's just say anything now."
Tyler Fischer
"When I announced the lawsuit on Twitter, I was absolutely brutalized. I was the racist for standing up for this. 'Oh, poor white guy, go kill yourself.' Maybe three comedians stood up for me."
Tyler Fischer
"Every single night I have to walk into the Comedy Cellar and someone will go, 'Why are you doing that? Just stop. Drop the lawsuit. Are you insane?' That's my walk into work every night."
Tyler Fischer
"My childhood hero is Jamie Foxx. He's probably one of the reasons I do impressions. I can't get an agent because I'm white. And here he is going, 'Yeah, but white guys have it the best.' Who would have thought I'd ever have that interaction with one of my childhood heroes?"
Tyler Fischer
"Everything that everyone has told me to stop doing — whenever I did the opposite, every dream has come true. It's pretty remarkable how people will try to keep you from exploring."
Tyler Fischer
